Restorative dentistry repairs and replaces teeth that have been damaged by decay, injury or wear — bringing back both the function and the appearance of your smile. At Willow Dental Group in Fresno we offer a full range of restorative treatments, from a single tooth-colored filling to implant-supported replacements for missing teeth, all planned around preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.

Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges offer a permanent solution for missing or damaged teeth, helping to restore your smile and boost your confidence. These procedures provide natural-looking and durable results for issues such as decay, injury, or cosmetic enhancements.

Porcelain Crowns

As you age, your teeth age too. Decay, fillings, trauma or even just normal chewing habits can make your teeth break down over time. A porcelain dental crown or a cap is a cover that is placed over a tooth to protect a weakened tooth from further fracturing or deteriorating. A porcelain crown could also be used to replace a discolored or badly shaped tooth or protect a tooth that has had a root canal.

It normally takes two visits for your dentist to complete your crown. On your first visit, your dentist will shape and prepare the tooth so the crown can properly fit over it. Next, an impression of the tooth is taken and a temporary crown is inserted to protect the prepared tooth. This impression is then sent to a dental laboratory where a custom-fit permanent crown is made.

Porcelain Inlays

Dental inlays and onlays are alternatives to crowns and fillings for addressing cavities and decay. They are used when fillings are inadequate and crowns are excessive, providing a more substantial repair without the need for reshaping healthy tooth structure.

White Fillings

White dental fillings, also known as composite fillings, are a popular alternative to metal amalgam fillings. Made of resin and glass-like particles, they provide a natural appearance that blends with surrounding teeth. Durable and long-lasting, they are used to restore decayed, chipped, or cracked teeth.

Dentures

Dentures are effective solutions for restoring missing teeth, improving confidence and quality of life. Removable dentures enhance oral health and function with a natural-looking fit. Permanent implant-supported dentures provide a secure, stable alternative that eliminates the need for adhesives.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a revolutionary solution for missing teeth that offer a permanent and natural-looking outcome. They provide patients with comfortable and reliable results, resembling natural teeth, and can improve oral health and quality of life for those who have experienced tooth loss due to injury or decay.

Why choose restorative dentistry

Improved Oral Health

Restoring damaged or missing teeth preserves surrounding natural teeth, reduces the risk of gum disease, and stops decay from spreading to adjacent structures.

Enhanced Appearance

Modern restorations — crowns, implants, veneers, and composite fillings — are custom-shaded to blend seamlessly with natural teeth for a confident, natural-looking smile.

Improved Bone Health

Dental implants stimulate natural bone growth and prevent the bone loss and facial changes that occur when teeth are missing — benefits no other restoration can match.

Restored Function

Eat, speak, and chew comfortably again. Restorative treatments eliminate pain from damaged teeth and restore the full bite force needed for proper nutrition and digestion.

Long-Lasting Results

With proper care, modern dental restorations are built to last — dental implants can last a lifetime, while crowns, bridges, and fillings are designed to withstand years of daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Restorative Dentistry FAQs

What is the difference between restorative and cosmetic dentistry?

Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing or replacing damaged, decayed, or missing teeth to restore function and health. Cosmetic dentistry focuses primarily on improving the appearance of your smile. Many treatments — like dental crowns or implants — serve both restorative and cosmetic purposes at the same time.

How do I know which restorative treatment is right for me?

The right treatment depends on the condition of your teeth, the number of missing or damaged teeth, your overall oral health, and your goals. At your consultation, our dentist will examine your teeth, review X-rays, and discuss all suitable options so you can make an informed decision together.

Does insurance cover restorative dental procedures?

Many restorative procedures — such as fillings, crowns, and extractions — are covered in full or in part by most dental insurance plans. Coverage for dental implants varies by plan. Our front office team will verify your benefits and review your coverage before any treatment begins.

Are restorative dental procedures painful?

Most restorative procedures are performed under local anesthesia so you feel little to no pain during treatment. Some post-procedure sensitivity or mild discomfort is normal and typically resolves within a few days.

Is there a dentist near me in Fresno that offers restorative dentistry?
